There being no real way to remove them I could see, I restored to the image file I had just made and then burned the cd-r successfully. Most were security updates for ms Office 2003 & 7 and one just said security update. I see no uninstalls for the Updates like XP had though they are listed. I made an image file for today, downloaded and installed the Windows Updates, rebooted and no longer could burn a cd-r. Shortly after that I noticed 8 Windows Updates waiting for me. Finally I used an Acronis TI image file and restored to May 20th (before all this started), booted up and burned the cd-r. I wasted about 8 cd's trying 2 more external burners eventually and either the cd I was using was deemed corrupted on the external drives or the file I was trying to burn was corrupted and it would quit about 1/2 way through.I tried other files and folders just to be sure and whatever I tried was "corrupted".

If we could get back on course here.today I went and tried to burn another cd just with an install program I downloaded for Avg and forgetaboutit. Something they are not telling us here.I am wondering if there is something in Vista to prevent cd or dvd copying, yet I doubt it. I even added a Plextor external dvd burner and tried.nada! I have to tell you I wasted half a day trying to do this in Vista and there is no way. Then I brought up an old XP bench pc and made them all. I tried copying the cd to a folder on hard drive,and then burning from the folder, no difference. still fails to burn with message error prevented completion. I downloaded Xp CD Burning program, Burn4Free and tried about 6 other burning programs and nothing did any different. These are old cd's like Windows 98, Works 4.5 etc I was trying to make a copy of as I am concerned the cd's are still in good shape, but I have misplaced copies I always make as security for a cd rom incidentally damaging one, which I have had happen.
